Privacy Notice · Last updated 3 August 2026
Your family. Your data. Your call.
This notice explains how Fami handles personal information when you use Fami in WhatsApp or Telegram, visit this site, or contact us. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@joinfami.com.
What Fami is for
Fami helps families carry the moving parts of everyday life: school, schedules, tasks, appointments, plans and the details in between, in chat. It is not a general-purpose chat service.
Information Fami handles
Depending on what you choose to share, this may include your messaging-platform identifier, name, contact details, preferred language and time zone; household and children's details; school, activity, event and task details; preferences; and, if you choose to connect them, calendar or task-service permissions.
Fami can also process a message, image, document, screenshot or voice note you submit in order to identify information you want help organising. Fami normally holds that submitted content only while processing it or while it is awaiting your confirmation. The confirmed details you choose to keep are retained until you delete them or close your account, unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve a security, fraud or legal matter.
Website registration, waitlist and beta contact
When you use “Start with Fami” or join the waitlist, Fami collects your name, phone number, email address and language preference. Fami also keeps a record of your beta-contact agreement, including whether you agreed, when you agreed and the wording shown to you at the time.
Fami uses this information to process your registration or waitlist request, reserve or offer a place in the Fami beta, give you the access instructions you request, contact you about your registration, access or account, and, where you have agreed, contact you during the beta for feedback, research or testing. Fami does not use this information for optional marketing or sell it to anyone.
Fami keeps waitlist information for up to 12 months after it is collected, unless you receive access or ask Fami to keep it for longer. Fami keeps registration information while your beta access is active and then deletes or anonymises it within 90 days, unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve a security, fraud or legal matter. Fami keeps the record of your beta-contact agreement only for as long as needed to manage the beta relationship, respond to a privacy question or meet legal obligations.
You can opt out of future beta feedback, research or testing contact at any time by emailing privacy@joinfami.com. Fami may still need to contact you about your requested access, account or a privacy request.
Why Fami uses information
Fami uses information to provide and improve the service you ask for: to identify your account, hold and confirm family details, send requested summaries or reminders, connect services you choose to connect, answer support requests, protect the service, and meet legal obligations. Fami does not sell personal information or use it for optional marketing without your separate choice.
Google user data
If you choose to connect Google Calendar, Fami requests access only to the calendar events needed to create, update, organise or remove the events you ask Fami to manage. If you choose to connect Google Tasks, Fami requests access only to the tasks needed to create, update, organise or remove the tasks you ask Fami to manage.
If you choose to use the caretaker or partner invitation feature, Fami may request Google Contacts read-only access. This is used only to help you select a caretaker or partner as the recipient when you choose to send an event invitation. Fami does not send an invitation, message or calendar update to a contact without your confirmation, and it does not write to or synchronise your Google Contacts.
Fami uses Google user data only to provide the user-facing calendar, task and invitation features you choose. Fami does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train Fami or third-party general-purpose models.
Fami's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You stay in control
Fami shows what it understood before saving a new detail. You can ask Fami to edit, export or delete your data by messaging Fami. Where information is shared with another member of your household, deleting your own account may not remove the shared information from that other person's account. Fami may keep de-identified, aggregated operational information that no longer identifies you.
Training and ownership
Your content remains yours. Fami does not use your family's messages, files, voice notes, calendar information or account details to train Fami or third-party general-purpose models.
Service providers and transfers
Fami uses carefully selected service providers to operate the service, including messaging, hosting, security, support, calendar and weather-service providers. They only receive the information needed to provide their part of the service. Some providers may process information outside Singapore. Where applicable law requires it, Fami uses the required transfer safeguards and makes information about those safeguards available on request.
Security
Fami protects your information with access controls that keep each family's data separate from every other family's, encryption in transit, encrypted storage for sensitive credentials such as calendar access tokens, authenticated connections to the services Fami relies on, and error and activity monitoring. If a data incident occurs, Fami will assess it, take steps to contain it, and notify affected users and the relevant authorities where the law requires.
GDPR and UK GDPR information
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, Fami is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. Fami processes information to provide the service you request and manage your account on the basis of contract; to protect the service, prevent misuse and improve its reliability on the basis of legitimate interests; and with your consent where you choose to connect a calendar or enable an optional integration. Fami may also process information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
You may have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability where applicable. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing before withdrawal. You may also complain to the data-protection authority where you live or work. Fami does not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects. If Fami appoints an EU or UK representative, this notice will be updated with their contact details.
Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to or correction of your personal information, withdraw consent, request export or deletion, or ask a question about how Fami handles information. To make a request, message Fami or email privacy@joinfami.com. Fami may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children's information
Fami is intended for parents and caregivers carrying household information. If you add information about a child, you confirm that you are authorised to do so. Please only share what is necessary for the family-life purpose you choose.
Changes to this notice
Fami may update this notice as the service changes or legal requirements develop. The current version and its effective date will always appear on this page. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate service channel where required.
